I’ve Moved!

June 13, 2007

sourdough-for-web.jpg

It’s amazing that I had time to bake this sourdough bread considering all the changes that have been happening! Pinch My Salt has officially moved to a new home! I am still going through unpacking process and things at the new place might be a little messy for a while but I have to say that I’m pretty impressed with myself for getting things set up so quickly! Since I’m a military wife, I’ve had lots of practice in the moving department 😉

Once you get to the new site, please bookmark the new address so you don’t miss out on any of my upcoming posts! This old site will not disappear but I will not be updating it. And don’t worry, I’ve moved all of my recipes and older posts to the new site!

And to the new readers who have arrived here thanks to the mention in The Sacramento Bee, welcome! So without further ado, let’s head on over to the new site and see what’s happening! Are you ready? Are you sure? Ok, now close your eyes…wait, you’d better keep them open. Oh what the hell, just CLICK HERE!

Can Ya Digg It?

April 22, 2007

Hey everyone! It’s time for a little shameless self-promotion!

You will notice that from now on, a few of my posts will contain a little box in the top right corner with the words “digg it.” For those of you who have never heard of Digg.com, check out the site or read the Wikipedia explanation. It’s basically another way to help spread the word about the Pinch My Salt recipes you enjoy. Read the rest of this entry »

April 19, 2007

Thousand!!! This site has now had over 300,000 visits. Actually, it’s almost up to 303,000 as I’m writing this. I started Pinch My Salt last summer and I never imagined that it would become as popular as it has! Thanks to everyone for continuing to visit my site even when I’m not able to post new recipes as regularly as I would like. And I would especially like to thank you for taking the time to leave all the wonderful comments! They always bring a smile to my face. Through this site, I have met so many fun and creative people, from all over the world, and it has really given me a new appreciation for the way the internet breaks down cultural and geographical boundaries. A Sunday Cappuccino

April 1, 2007

cappuccino-on-sunday.jpg

Although nothing can replace the experience of enjoying a cappuccino with good friends at your favorite bar (or local Starbucks, if you don’t happen to live in Italy), sometimes it’s just as nice to sink down into your favorite chair, cradling your favorite green cup, savoring the smell of freshly brewed espresso that has filled the entire downstairs of your house, admiring your creation — the perfect, creamy froth, the faint dusting of cocoa powder just clinging to the edge of the cup, waiting to be swept into your mouth with the first sip, the heat from the cup warming your hands as you know it will also warm first your mouth, then your throat, and then your entire body as a sense that maybe your life isn’t so bad after all slowly takes hold of you. And then you take the first sip.

I’m Back!

March 18, 2007

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been over a month since my last post! Thanks for the e-mails and comments expressing concern, but I’m doing fine and I’m officially back! I don’t really have any excuse for my long absence. I’ve been cooking a lot but haven’t felt the urge to take photos or write about food lately. I guess I just needed a little break.

Those of you who have continued to visit Pinch My Salt during the last month may have noticed the cooking videos that magically appeared along the sidebar. If you haven’t noticed them, start paying attention! I joined vod:pod, a really cool new site that allows users to collect their favorite videos from around the web, keep them in one spot, and share them with friends. I have collected over forty different cooking videos at the Pinch My Salt pod and I’m adding new ones all the time. You can also check out music videos I like at my Mmmmmmusic pod. If you decide to join vod:pod yourself (it’s free and easy to use), make sure to add me as a friend and join some of my pods! And please please please let me know if you run across any great cooking videos so that I can add them to the collection!

One more thing! If you are interested in receiving an e-mail when I’ve posted something new on here, just click the link on the right side of this page that says “subscribe by e-mail” and you can get it all set up.  It’s a quick and easy process, I promise!

Spring Cleaning in January?

January 21, 2007

wildflowers-and-oranges-for-web.jpg

Today’s forecast:
Sunday in Catania, Sicily, Italy
Sunny and Pleasantly warm, 74°F/23°C
Wind WSW, 6mph

This is no joke, it is warm outside! Although we call this place Sunny Sicily, this is not normal weather for the end of January! But, as you can see in the photo, everything is green and the wildflowers are blooming everywhere. It feels and looks like spring here. The windows in my house have been open every day (much to the delight of my cat) and I actually have had the urge to do some spring-like cleaning around my house (that’s more unusual than this weather). Well, this morning I have also done some much needed cleaning around this blog. Read the rest of this entry »

I am one of those people whose refrigerator is completely covered with magnets, photos, etc. I’ve been this way for as long as I’ve had my own kitchen and I’ll probably never change. Read the rest of this entry »

What’s My Story?

A Gift for You!

December 23, 2006

Mini Cherry Cheesecakes

No, I can’t give you the Mini Cherry Cheesecakes (as much as I’d like to!). But, although I’m a little late for Hanukkah and a little early for Christmas, I do have a holiday gift for you! It is the addition of printer-friendly versions of my recipes. It will take me a while to update every single post but I have added a link to the bottom of a few recipes Read the rest of this entry »
